Winter may bring snow birds and visitors looking for a warm retreat, but summers are what St. John residents revel in. Flat seas, uncrowded beaches, cool evenings, and warm waters. Sure, we might get “a weather system that shall not be named”, but we don’t live day-to-day in fear of something over which we have no control. We stock-up on batteries and water and go about our day. I certainly see more of my St. John friends in the summer months, as winter represents “tourist season” and everyone is busy in business. Summer makes time for swimming races, rib cook-offs, fish fries and Sunday’s at Cinnamon Bay playing (ok, watching) volleyball. There are art shows, surfing lessons, and friendly retreats over to White Bay. Summer is the season of sun and fun on St. John!
