The smallest of all the US Virgin Islands, and mostly National Park, rarely makes the news, but this week things were different. Coral Bay, the quiet “other” side of St. John, was featured in the New York Times! The smart editors of the Times ranked our little Coral Bay 4th of “52 Places to Visit in 2016.” And it gets better. Coral Bay was the highest ranked destination in all the US on their list. Coral Bay?!
From Cruz Bay, one must travel 8.3 miles, up and over mountainous terrain, to the small harbor town gloriously and intentionally stuck in backtime. The hippy, musical town of Coral Bay is home to a collection of local characters, as well as a large population of seasonal visitors who stay in one of hundreds of vacation homes for rent by the week. Almost every villa in Coral Bay offers a pool, spa, WIFI, and other comforts of home, in addition to breathtaking views of the bright Caribbean Sea and British Virgin Islands (BVIs) beyond.
